Ha. I decided not to have kids before it was cool to decide not to have kids. My mother (who married at 18 years old, had two kids before she was 25, and was divorced before she was 30) emphasized to me consistently the importance of avoiding unintended pregnancy. She encouraged the use of birth control. I took the message that having kids was inconvenient so much to heart that I decided never to have them, which wasn’t the message she intended to convey, but she was right. I am child-free, 46 years old, and I have no regrets. I’ve traveled a lot more than my child-having peers and I look forward to traveling a lot more!
