I agree with most of this, but I viscerally hate what you said about following dreams. The times that I have worked a desk job have been some of the most miserable in my life, and 40-hour-a-week jobs are absolutely fucking draining and I don’t know how anyone can do them, but I certainly can’t. I would rather live in my goddamn car then stop making music as my career. Maybe your advice is good for people who can tolerate the mindnumbing boredom of working 40 hours a week at a desk, but I’m not one of them. and I really don’t like how your message aligns with all the pro union sentiment in the world right now. Unions are trying to make freelancing illegal and without freelancing, there would be no music careers, for anyone. I will never be famous because of music but goddamnit it’s one of the few things that gives my life any meaning whatsoever and I need to do it as much as possible. Not just on weekends when I’m not exhausted from my “great union job.”
