I decided in my 20s I didn’t want to have kids. Think of all the money I could’ve saved on birth control if I knew that I couldn’t get pregnant anyway! 😂

Part of my decision was analyzing the benefits and drawbacks of having kids, and I realize that the only reason to have kids is if you really, really want them. And it would have definitely tanked my career if I had. And the sexism! A woman with a career that involves lots of travel, with small children at home? Even liberal women look at her askance, and conservative men think she’s essentially criminal. If I lived in a different society, or at a different time, I might have chosen to have kids. But I’m 46 now and I really don’t have any regrets. I am aware of the fertility crisis and I have brought it up to several people, only to have it pooh-poohed. I think it’ll be about 10 years before there is a real panic over this.
