I really appreciate you sharing this perspective. My mother remarried my stepfather when she was 35 and he was 50. He died at age 74, and for 18 months straight she took care of him as one with an infant (late-stage Parkinson’s is not pretty). When he finally passed away her primary emotion was relief, because she had done her grieving over a year earlier. Personally, if I ever find myself single again which some days seems more likely than other days, I will absolutely definitely NOT get remarried.
