If humans didn’t have a very powerful instinct to survive, we wouldn’t have. The people who did not have a powerful instinct to survive did not survive, and they did not pass on the genetic trait that makes people want to survive. The instinct is so powerful it’s hard to accept that our lives will end at all, which is why human beings create all sorts of fantasies about why it won’t actually end or what’s actually going to happen after. I don’t expect any life after I die, of any kind. But I don’t agree with your assertion that there is no other life in the universe, that seems quite a leap to make.
