My mother passed away two weeks ago from as-yet unknown causes. She was 69. She had her ovaries and uterus removed at 40, she had gastric bypass surgery when she was 53. She had arthritis. Walking was painful. One of the last times I saw her she told told me that her bones hurt, especially the ends of them, the tips of her fingers and toes. She was warned that the loss of bone density would happen. She was taking a calcium supplement and it gave her long and strong hair she was proud of, but she still hurt, and she still died too soon.
