Unfortunately, I think your husband will learn the wrong lesson from you leaving. He will learn that he should find partners who are more easily controlled, who will probably be someone he can get pregnant or who does not have their own job or source of income.

But that’s not your problem. You dodged a bullet. I really doubt it would’ve ever gotten better, probably only would’ve gotten worse. Men like that don’t change their behavior unless they have a seriously life-changing epiphany and those are pretty much impossible to cause. They either happen by random chance or they don’t… and usually they don’t. Good for you for moving on.
