You made some good points, but your conclusion is wrong, at least for me. I have been using apps to track my calorie and macro consumption for the past 10 years on and off, and very consistently for the past four years. It’s developing this very habit which has kept me on-track. When I stop weighing my food or counting my calories, the numbers creep up. And it’s happened enough times that I know that I’m going to be counting calories the rest of my life. It’s worth it to me. I’ve lost about 50 pounds that have stayed off for over three years. I walk every day, I do yoga, I bicycle, I feel good and I feel healthy. My entire family is overweight so I am fighting a lot of genetic baggage. I can’t stop counting calories, and I’ve come to accept that.
